BASILIUS BESLER 1561-1629
Besler was a Bavarian Apothecary and botanist who is best remembered for his epic Hortus Eystettensis published in 1613.
The book took 16 years to produce and consisted of 367 copper engravings depicting 1084 species of plants from the garden of The Bishop of Eichstätt in Bavaria how had commissioned the work.
Artists, engravers, skilled draughts were involved and the text was ascribed to Ludwig Jungermann 1572-1653
