POLA VON GRÜT

BOTANICA

BOTANICA

Re-enchanting reality is the way artist Paula Braconnot describes as the main drive behind her art.

Every piece is about giving back to others this dimension of wonder, dream & excitement.

When we are young we have no problem with the world being a mysterious & fantastic place but somehow, with adulthood, the world seems to "shrink" and lose its colors.

As if things were disconnected from us and no longer could speak back to us.

So with Paula’s art, she wants to bring back this amazement, this sense of magic.

She is heavily inspired by alchemical & astrological imagery since these visual riddles question us at the deepest level: the soul level.

L'HOMME A LA TETE

About her literary project

For Paula, stories are so important in her life that recently she’s written a book with her husband Brice, about “fabulous” women (published in France by Larousse in 2018)
They wanted to tell the story of 10 XXth century women that forged their own destiny and they used a “tale” structure.

They are very honored to participate in the blossoming of these types of books for young girls.

But they noticed that most of the time the books just gave succinct descriptions of these women's lives and so they decided to really take the time & describe their life, their struggles, their doubts as well as their achievements.

Much attention was given to the historical context in which their lives took place.

And the message is consistent with her artwork: giving hope and showing that we are able to forge our own destinies with the help of imagination & courage.

Current projects

Paula has been studying astrology for the past 7 months at the London School of Astrological Studies and she can't wait to get her certificate by the end of the year to read natal charts !!!

So far this experience has been extremely rich. So much so that she’s decided to incorporate astrology in her art.

She is currently doing a series of constellations - and expects to do all 88 constellations by the end of the year!

This has been a fantastic way for her to get familiar with the mythology linked to the stars.

Paula is always amazed by the richness of symbolism in myth. As Joseph Campbell says "Myths are magnified dreams".
